It Wasn't You - 2020. Music Video
|
“It Wasn’t You” by Twisted Blues
This is a music video I edited for a fund launch. The fund is called the Liam Colgan Music Fund. It is a Scottish fund for young students who pursue music, especially at the University of the Highlands and Islands (UHI). As a student of UHI, I was approached by my module leader asking, whether I wanted to participate in the production of this music video. As you can see I said yes and these past few months of production and discussion have been a very pleasant creator-customer experience. |

Collateral Damage 2019
|
This film takes a quick look at the present state of the LGBTQ+ community in Hungary from various perspectives.
We asked our interviewees what they think of today's media representation and public acceptance of the LGBTQ+ community. We take a brief look at whether judging someone's identity from the place of naturality is viable or not. The interviewees try to sum up what we, everyday people can do to make integration easier for LGBTQ+ people. How bright or dark is the future for this community in Hungary? And finally the participants share their advice for LGBTQ+ yout, who may feel lost. I hope you'll enjoy and consider not excluding or hurting someone based on their identity. |

If You Just Knew What A Day I Had
Have you ever been in a situation, where you wanted to tell a story so bad, that you didn't notice anything besides your need to talk? And being upset when realizing you chose a wrong moment?

Embrace Yourself
Embrace Yourself from Somarov on Vimeo. |
This short piece is to tell us about how we should accept ourselves as we are and not care about everyone else's opinions. It's time we stop judging people for their identities and start appreciate people for their actions. :) Be happy and feel good. |
Everything

They say, that after someone dies, the relatives are left behind with sorrow and guilt.
In my video we can see the from the other side. The one to die has not yet died and she also feels guilty for being responsible for the future guilt of her brother. When we lose a beloved one, we tend to believe that at least for a while we lost our right to be happy. This is a natural thing, but it also makes the dying unhappy, that she knows, that unwillingly she causes damage while becoming damaged. |
Nothing
In this piece I attempt to sketch a coflict between a brother and his late sister. These people both wanted to become writers/ storytellers, but one had good ideas and the other had the skills of language use. The sister is gone, but her revenge is that she choses her brother as her heir of ideas. She knows, that ideas cannot be transferred that easily, even if the brother knew them, he will never own them. |
Sadness may expand ways of thinking, raise new ideas, but only the energy of happiness can make you create, and finish your work.
In this video I tried to earn a change in the feeling of the word 'nothing'. In the beginning it is an absolute neutral title, but in the end it's filled with negative content - that is what the sister's ideas became - nothing. And as well I wanted to picture a hint of guilt in the brother's athmosphere, since she's gone, he's been quite disoriented, that's why he's often out of focus.
I love discussing emotions and guilt in my worls, as it helps me imagine myself as a person, who also has feelings bears these things.

Feeling so
Feeling so from Somarov on Vimeo. |
This is a short piece on animation based on Shakespeare's Hamlet.
I've been obsessed with that play for quite a long time and I also have a bunch of ideas related to it. This is one of them. In Feeling so I've been concentrating on the feelings, Hamlet feels, when he's about to commit suicide and Horatio feels upon losing and only friend of his and Laertes feels, when he's under social pressure and wants to quit this whole thing. |
All of them are young men of almost the same age, and they're facing ambivalent feelings and hard decision situations. Once they could act freely and airily, but now they're being pushed by themselves and their community as well.
This piece tends not to tell us about the story of Hamlet, it rather tends to speak via the language of Halmet, or use the play as a language to speak in.

This is a part or a trial cut from my most recent project that will try to reveal some ambivalent feelings discussed in Shakespeare's Hamlet. |

You might be overreacting from Somarov on Vimeo. |
In this short I'd like to tell you how annoying it can be to live among fellow human beings, and how hard it can be sometimes to tolerate them as they are. |

Urban Legend
Urban Legend - MISKOLC from Somarov on Vimeo. |
This is also a video etude and the inspiration was a short text written by a Hungarian poet about how he considers a city and a built milieu affects him. |
Video CVVideo CV _ SOMAROV from Somarov on Vimeo. |
This was a school project in which we had to show through a video to an imaginary employer what we're capable of. |
(Human) NatureNature vs. Civilisation from Somarov on Vimeo. |
This video is asking why we consider it self-evident that nature exists only to serve us. That anything that we can take advantage from is to be taken advantage from. That why we run towards a world that requires constant development when people could live just as well (or badly) live a hundred years ago than in 2016. |
Demetrius
Demetrius and Marina from Somarov on Vimeo. |
This is one of the outcomes created during a four week long lab in Vilnius at the Russian Drama Theatre organized by IUGTE. With a Slovenian director Rahela Jagric we decided to create a stop motion animation based on the main topic of the residence Friedrich Schiller's Demetrius and Pushkin's Boris Godunov. We didn't wanted to tell the story, it rather shows the feeling of being lost in the chain of events. |
Beer ad - parody
Sörreklám-paródia OKTV 2014-15 from Somarov on Vimeo. |
This was my project work for the National Championship for Students in Media Studies. We had to choose an existing ad of and alcoholic drink and parodize it. I chose a beer that is produced in my home county. |
Emotions
The emotions inside me from Somarov on Vimeo. |
In this video I try to explain some connections of emotions inside me, how they ensue frome each other and that these developments are most of the time invisible to the outsider as most people only show a mask when having an intercourse with people. |
Lip sync

You probably won't understand the dialogue as it is in Hungarian, soon I'll upload a subtitled version. The goal of this school project was to build a scene around a given dialogue that is taken from a movie (we were not told which one - Love in the Time of Cholera) and try to give the text a subtext meaning. So I decided that the man talking should be a transvestite talking to the woman as a fellow singer in a caravan. |
Stéphane Lambiel
Stéphane Lambiel from Somarov on Vimeo. |
In this project I wanted to show some kind of broken wish to get free from you physical being and become something purely mental, to become rather a thought than anything else. To have the ability to change, be fluid and free. |
Video etude - Bipolar
Bipolar_etude from Somarov on Vimeo. |
This video was part of a school project. We were given a music and a picture and with the inpiration of them we had to build a feeling that describes them both, but lacks telling a traditionally considered story. The dynamics of the song had to give us the frame for building the dramaturgy as well. We (me and one of my fellow students) decided to show two exagerrated basic feelings, happiness and depression. |
